Foxconn CEO Says ‘iPhone 5′ Will Put Samsung’s Galaxy S3 To Shame

Foxconn’s CEO, Terry Gou, while speaking to China Times urged customers to refrain from buying Samsung’s newly released Galaxy S3 smartphone until Apple releases the new iPhone.

It’s strange to see Foxconn’s CEO openly talking to the press about a future Apple product, after Tim Cook said that Apple’s “doubling down” on secrecy. But then again, supply chain has always been the weak point in Apple’s otherwise secretive operations.

From the China Times (via Patently Apple) report:

Gou said he has made it a lifetime goal to defeat Samsung — “a company with a track record of snitching on its competitors.”

He was referring to Samsung’s action in 2010 of snitching on four Taiwanese companies in an investigation by the European Commission on price-fixing in the flat panel industry.

Gou also urged consumers to wait for the launch of Apple’s iPhone 5, saying that the new model will put Samsung’s Galaxy III to shame.

Gou was in Taiwan to announce a strategic investment in Sharp, as a part of his long term mission to “defeat” Samsung.

Foxconn, along with Sharp, would be setting up an assembly line of televisions in New Taipei, which is rumored to be for Apple’s upcoming TV.
