iPhone 3.1.3 Jailbreak and Unlock

The official release of the iOS 4 is out for iPhone 3G, 3Gs & 4 of course.   So far I have heard a few major bugs from users who have updated to iOS 4 so I intend to wait until these major bugs are ironed out before updating to iOS 4.  For the longest time, the firmware 3.1.3 has be impossible to unlock.  Well, the wait is over now, below are my steps to jailbreak and unlock any iPhone with either the 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 firmware.

Requirements:

  • Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
  • An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes orEmergency Call screen.
  • Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).

Steps to Jailbreak Using Spirit

Step 1: Download Spirit for PC or Mac

Step 2: Make sure iTunes 9.1.1 or later is installed, and that the iPhone is on official 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 firmware

Step 3: Connect phone with your computer, Run “Spirit” and then Click on “Jailbreak

Step 4: Skip to Step 5 for Mac users.  For Windows 7/vista users, right click on Spirit.exe, click on properties, then the compatibility tab, check “Run this program in compatibilty mode” and select “Windows 98/Me“.  And finally, check “Run this program as administrator“.

Step 5: Run Spirit, let it do its thing and wait for it to say “Jailbreak Complete”

Step 6: You’re done. Click on the “Quit” button to close Spirit.  Your phone should now be jailbroken.

Steps to Unlock a Jailbroken iPhone

Step 1:   Start Cydia on your phone which was installed when jailbroken automatically by Spirit.

Step 2:  Touch on “Manage” once Cydia is loaded

Step 3: Touch on “Sources”

Step 4: Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a url source. Type “http://ios4.ultrasn0w.org” and touch on “Add Source”.

Step 5: After the source is added, do a search in Cydia for ultrasn0w and install it.

Step 6: You’re done.  Ultrasn0w automatically unlocks the phone.
